THE incredible dedication of Lesmahagow’s Angus Barr – who swims for several hours a week before and after school – has helped him seal top title wins and selection for this summer’s International Children’s Games in Windsor, Canada.

Third year Lesmahagow High School pupil Angus (14), of Muirsland Farm, showed his prowess when winning four golds, one silver and two bronzes at this month’s Scottish Gas National Age Group Championships in Edinburgh.

His mum Annemarie said: “It was absolutely fantastic to be in the crowd watching Angus winning his first national titles.

“This success was richly deserved as Angus has been getting up at 4.15am on four mornings a week to go for training sessions at Dollan Aqua Centre in East Kilbride.”
