LESMAHAGOW Juniors manager Robert Irving has hailed goalscorer Daryl Meikle for the strike which won last Saturday’s home Sectional League Cup derby against Lanark United.

Meikle’s 40th minute header from Stuart Hall’s cross saw him bullet the ball home after outjumping the Lanark defence to give ’Gow victory in their opening Section 1 game.

“Daryl has been an important player for us for the past couple of years,” Robert said.

“He is a young boy who has come into the juniors and done really well.”
