THERE’S a great opportunity for people to have fun at Lanark Lifestyles Centre next month, while raising money for Marie Curie Nurses care for the terminally ill.

The third annual Swimathon challenge – from April 26 to 28 – will see participants take to the pool to race 1.5km, 2.5km or 5km individually or as part of a team.

“This event is great for people who want to take on a challenge, try to achieve their goal and raise money for a worthy cause,” said organiser Lindsey Leeper.

The Swimathon will be taking place simultaneously at 600 pools throughout the UK. All strong, competent swimmers of any age are welcome to take part.

Lanark participants will swim for two and a half hours on each of the three days, with sessions starting at 7pm on Friday, April 26, noon and 2.30pm on Saturday, April 27 and 11am on Sunday, April 28. Register at www.swimathon.org or contact 01555 666800.
