SCOTLAND’S top professional golfer Martin Laird owes a lot to Kames Country Club director of golf John Kelly.
For leading club pro Kelly coached the young Laird – a winner of two USPGA tournaments already at the age of 28 – at Bearsden between 2000 and 2004.
John said: “Martin has a quality I look for in all young golfers – namely a desire to get better and practice.
“He has an abundance of talent, but more important is his willingness to learn.
“He used to practise from dawn until dusk and was always the first player into the club and the last out.
