THERE was a glorious double celebration for Kirkfield United under-14 star James McLafferty at Friday night’s inaugural Carluke and Lanark Gazette Youth Football Awards.

As well as receiving the club’s Player of the Year prize from Hamilton Accies midfielder Ali Crawford, James later landed the final award of the night – the overall Clydesdale Player of the Year trophy – from Provost Eileen Logan.

“James was absolutely delighted and overwhelmed to receive two trophies,” said Kirkfield United under-14s coach Vinny McEwan.
