FORMER world champion athlete Sonia O’Sullivan visited Biggar High School during a break in her recent efforts to raise money for Sport Relief.

Sonia (42), a 5000m gold medallist at the 1995 World Athletics Championships, joined her Irish team-mates, including BBC TV presenter Craig Doyle, at the school and enjoyed chatting with senior pupils.

The Irish team were making a flying visit ahead of completing the final six-mile leg of Sport Relief’s First Nation Home challenge.

Celebrity teams from Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales had previously gone head-to-head in a seven-day challenge, covering a gruelling distance of more than 1000 miles around the four nations. One of the routes raced was from Dublin to Edinburgh.
