CARLUKE Rovers have won their first piece of major silverware for 40 years, without having to kick a ball in anger last weekend.

Rovers’ Central Division 2 title win was confirmed on Saturday when rivals Forth drew 0-0 at Johnstone Burgh. And Rovers were also helped out by St Roch’s being held to a 0-0 home draw by Wishaw last Wednesday.

Thrilled Rovers manager Colin Slater said: “We are delighted to win something for the first time since the old second division title way back in 1971-72. Credit to our boys.

“This is a big achievement and says a lot for our dedicated committee. It’s good to see them getting a bit of glory.”

overs, who will be presented with the league trophy on Saturday, will run a supporters bus to Johnstone from the Crown at 11.15am, all welcome. Call Billy on 07939 498108 to book a seat.
