AS the first Scotland international affiliated to Cambusnethan Miners Boxing Club in its 28-year history, Braidwood teenager Jordan McShane is no stranger to success in the ring.
And the 16-year-old, of Albert Park, further enhanced his growing reputation this month by winning a Scottish Championship gold medal at Edinburgh’s Meadowbank Stadium.
Jordan’s proud dad Jamie, who coaches him at Cambusnethan Miners Boxing Club, said that the performance in comfortably beating Kelvin ABC’s Gabriel Dover 12-4 on points after three rounds had shown great maturity.
“Jordan scored with a lot of punches and proved very difficult for his opponent to hit,” Jamie added.
“He has tremendous speed about the ring.”
Cambusnethan Miners BC secretary James Martin agreed that Jordan’s performance in winning the 1996 69kg clash had been “fantastic”.
“Jordan was very impressive in the fight and is clearly going places,” James said.
“He didn’t get out of second gear yet he still won.
“I think he’d actually have been able to beat the other boy using just one hand!”
