IT is always a tough competition when Clydesdale’s lady bowlers are together for a tournament and this year’s Clydesdale Ladies 50+ Triples Championship was no exception.

The event was organised by Clydesdale Sports Council, in partnership with South Lanarkshire Leisure & Culture Ltd, and took place at Lesmahagow Bowling Club.

As always the event was well attended with 72 players, which added up to 24 triples, taking part in a full day’s bowls with everyone competiting to try and win the title - now in its 29th year.

In the final the Lanark Thistle BC triple Eileen McEwan (skip), Wendy Burrell and Mae Dick defeated Biggar Bowling Club’s Marion Stewart (skip), Margaret Brotherstone and Cathy Clingan.

The two beaten semi-finalists were Castlehill BC Joyce Brand (skip), Jenny Wilson and May Cook, from Castlehill Bowling Club and the Biggar Bowling Club team of Senga Peacock (Skip), Elizabeth Marshall and Nettie Maxwell.
