BIGGAR Rugby Club got their first league win of the season with last Saturday’s 14-12 Bt National League Division 2 home triumph against Cartha Queens Park.

Biggar are now second bottom of BT National League Division 2 with four points.

Trailing 12-6 with just four minutes remaining – Biggar’s points had come via the boot of Francois Nel – the hosts got within a point when Douglas Notman scampered home for a fantastic and well deserved score.

The Biggar fans’ cheers soon turned to groans when Nel pulled the resultant conversion attempt wide.

But Biggar won the game in the dying seconds thanks to Nel’s penalty, cue general celebrations from Biggar head coach Gavin Blackburn and his players!
