Biggar High School girls win netball championship

The South Lanarkshire Schools Senior Netball League 2012 has been won by Biggar High School . The squad of 9 girls have played 8 matches since the start of the season and have lost one game ( by one point ) . Outstanding shooting  by Lindsay Wight and Niamh Stewart rewarded the efforts of the defence and link players . The captain , Emily Nicholl ,who also trains with the Scotland under 21 squad , lead by example and her team rose to every challenge . The team are Emily Nicholl ( captain ), Niamh Stewart , Lindsay Wight,Caitlin Haile ,Shona Campbell,Eleanor Steele, Jennifer Highton , Christina Hodge ,Kirsty Crosse and Aileen Campbell

IN a truly fantastic title-winning season, the group of nine girls in Biggar High School’s netball squad have triumphed in the 2012 South Lanarkshire Schools Senior Netball League.

The Biggar girls proved their class by winning seven games out of eight during this campaign, with their solitary defeat coming via the narrowest possible margin of just one point.

Biggar High School PE teacher Fiona Thomson said that the outstanding shooting of Lindsay Wight and Niamh Stewart had proved decisive this season, in addition to the efforts of the defence and link players.

Fiona said that team captain Emily Nicholl, who also trains with the Scotland under 21 squad, led by example as her team rose to every challenge.

The other team members are: Caitlin Haile, Shona Campbell, Eleanor Steele, Jennifer Highton, Christina Hodge, Kirsty Crosse and Aileen Campbell.
