DESPITE being badly ill on the day of a high pressure six-hour trial session in front of a selection panel, remarkable Biggar 17-year-old Emily Nicholl impressed enough to be picked for the Scotland under-21 netball squad.

The fifth year Biggar High School pupil (17), fought off a bout of food poisoning to seal her place with the squad at the Ally McCoist Centre in East Kilbride on July 30 and 31.

“I’m delighted to be chosen at that level considering I’m so young,” said Emily, who has played netball since she was in P5 at Biggar Primary School. “It is a very exciting prospect for me.”
