A VOLUNTARY group in Biggar is going ahead with plans to save the public toilets, and is appealing for a little money from a lot of people.

Individuals are being asked to sign standing orders for £1 a week, or £2 for businesses, to keep the toilets open.

Almost 50 people turned out to a public meeting in the Corn Exchange on Wednesday and afterwards Mike Chad, who chairs the group, said that he was “quietly optimistic” about the project.
