Entries are now being accepted for the Carluke Five Mile Road Race and Fun Runs which this year aim to raise thousands of pounds for the Beatson Cancer Charity.

The Five Mile Road Race will start and finish at the John Cumming Stadium, adopting the same scenic route as in previous years.

This year there will also be a Children’s Fun Mile, a Fun Toddle (two laps of the stadium’s running track) and a Family Fun Mile – all within the confines of the John Cumming Stadium.

Kathleen Feeney, manager of event organisers Carluke Development Trust, said: “We are delighted to have the Beatson Cancer Charity as our official charity partner.

“Why not join the Beatson team to run, jog or walk to benefit the new Lanarkshire Beatson facility?

“The Beatson Cancer Charity is committed to raising £500,000 to further enhance the new facility due to open at the end of this year.

“Working with the Trust is a fantastic way to raise funds while encouraging people to get active, have fun and fundraise.

“We hope Carluke will be a sea of yellow runners, joggers and walkers on the day.”

The race was launched by Carluke High senior students at John Cumming Stadium.
