Santa’s Christmas Eve visit to Carluke - slideshow

Photographer Sarah Peters was in Carluke on Thursday night to capture the magic when Santa interrupted his deliveries to meet the children gathered round the Christmas tree in the Market Place.

Local singers took to the stage for carols until he he arrived in a horse-drawn carriage, in a tradition going back well over half a century, then he took time to go round the crowd meeting the youngsters and handing out oranges to them.

Provost Eileen Logan, from Carluke herself and a staunch supporter of the tradition, was among those there to greet Santa.

Then it was back into his carriage and on with his Christmas Eve deliveries!
