A ROW has broken out between farmers and South Lanarkshire Council over the axing of free milk from primary schools.

Over a number of years pupils in each of South Lanarkshire’s 125 primary schools have been given free milk as part of a drive to encourage kids to keep away from fatty and fizzy drinks.

However, the pressure of trying to balance the books for the local authority has meant that milk will be taken off the menu and replaced with still water.
