Nine-year-old boy seriously injured in Douglas car accident

A NINE-YEAR-OLD boy has been seriously injured after he was struck by a car in Douglas on Sunday evening.

The boy was cycling from Addison Drive onto Ayr Road at approximately 6pm when he was struck by a Chrysler PT Crossfire car being driven by a 59 year-old man.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital where he is being treated for leg and head injuries.

Hospital staff there describe his condition as serious but stable.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Officers from the Road Policing Department at Motherwell are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact their office on 01698 483000.
