YOU normally find crocodiles in the Everglades and the Amazon rainforest not the Lanarkshire Upperward.
Now the Scottish SPCA is appealing for information to find out exactly how the Carnwath croc got there.
Scottish SPCA Inspector Heather Lawson collected the four and a half foot long crocodile and took it to the National Museum of Scotland to have it identified.
Heather said: “I first thought it was a prank when I received a call saying there had been sightings of a crocodile but when I investigated I found it was real.”
