CARLUKE bus operator Stuarts Coaches has won a £266,400 contract to run service 10A from Carluke to Wishaw General Hospital and service 243 from Carluke to Hamilton.

The deal, from Strathclyde Partnership for Transport, will run until July 2017 and is part of an overall £1 million SPT package aimed at maintaining socially necessary local bus services across the region.

SPT Operations Committee Chair Denis McKenna said: “Commercial operators consider these routes commercially unviable, meaning the local communities they serve risk losing vital transport links.”
