THE Commonwealth Games is still making the news, with the Hunter cousins meeting gold medal swimmer Hannah Miley, and two Lanark girls dancing in the closing ceremony.

In sport, Commonwealth gold medal winning boxer Charlie Flynn talks to the Gazette about his success.

On a more sombre note, Lanark pauses for reflection on the centenary on the declaration of war in 1914, and there are photos of the night’s procession through the darkened street, and the wreath being assembled at the Cross.

In entertainment, we have a look ahead to Lanark Junior Panto’s next production, and there are loads of pictures from Crawford Gala Day which went ahead despite Saturday’s downpours.

All this, plus your chance to win tickets for Scottish star Dougie MacLean, and all your local news, announcements and comment.

The Gazette is in the shops tomorrow, priced 80p.
