Mary Doll bids for Independence in Carluke
Elaine C Smith at the independence referendum 'YES Clydesdale' launch Carluke 22/2/13
IF she’d broken into a stage number during her visit to Clydesdale on Friday night, actor Elaine C Smith would probably have sung I’m Just a Girl Who Can’t Say No...
Indeed, it was with the mission of persuading as many Scots as possible to say Yes in next year’s Independence Referendum the star of Rab C Nesbitt and The Steamie came to chair the rally at Carluke Lifestyles Centre to launch the Yes Clydesdale campaign.
Brought up just a few miles away in Newarthill, Elaine told an audience of around 300 of her off-stage efforts to promote Scottish independence and introduced a panel of five speakers from various parties and groups who shared her beliefs.
For a report on the rally, see this week’s Carluke and Lanark Gazette which is in the shops now.
