DRIVERS face disruption from Monday when work begins on the M74 Lairs overbridge near Blackwood.
WORKk, described as “vital improvements” will be carried out to the bridge, between Junctions 8 and 9 on the M74, in a project costing over £120,000.
Scotland TranServ, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out essential repairs to the route in both directions including resurfacing and waterproofing the bridge deck. This will require a total closure of the bridge from Monday, until Thursday October 24.
A signed diversion route will be in place via B708 to Canderside, A71 to Strathaven and B7086 to Kirkmuirhill throughout the project which will see road users being directed around the works before rejoining the main route.
Russell Rennie, contract director, Scotland TranServ said: “We will make every effort to minimise disruption.”
