ALTHOUGH it has a history dating back over 200 years, there has been a recent first for Lanark’s Clydesdale Inn – it was named Lanarkshire’s Pub of the Year by an expert panel of judges.

The award was from CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, which holds an annual competition to judge which hostelries deserve special mention, both for customer service and the variety and quality of the ales they serve.

After nomination by locals, the historic Lanark pub, now part of the Wetherspoons chain, was personally inspected by a panel of CAMRA judges and they decided it was the best licensed premises in the whole of the county.
