THERE are seven pupils and one teacher from Lanark Grammar walking about with very cold heads this week - thanks to a warm-hearted act on behalf of dreadfully ill youngsters.
This is, without doubt, the WORST time of the year to be walking about with a shaven head but that Magnificent - if now baldy - Seven sixth year pupils plus that teacher decided that risking hypothermia was well worth it in enduring a sponsored head-shave, sponsored by the rest of the school and parents in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Speaking for the now baldy band of brothers from the student body, Evan Stewart explained that, when it came to deciding in what charity to support in an all-school fundraising effort, the choice of the Trust was an easy one.
“A lot of people don’t think about teenagers getting cancer because it’s something they associated with older people.
“Our bit of it - the head shave - was just part of a week of activities by all of the school and at the end of it the total raised is £2602, so it was all worthwhile.
