THE boss of Clydesdale’s sole surviving bingo hall was LESS than impressed by the helping hand he got from last week’s Budget.

The man who famously fought to keep the club going through financially hard times said that, on his calculations, the much-trumped cut in the Bingo Duty announced by George Orbourne would save his business an absolute maximum of £16 a month.

“It’s a con,” Lanark’s Vogue Bingo Club Martin Carroll said. “This is going to do nothing to help the survival of small independent bingo clubs.

“It looks to me to be a change that will mostly benefit the Big Boys of the industry. Not places like the Vogue in Lanark.”
