George Patterson receives Dalai Lama’s Light of Truth Award

A 90-year-old former journalist living in quiet retirement in Lesmahagow might seem an unlikely recipient of an award from a world leader.

However, the more you learn about George Patterson, the more you realise what a major part he once played in modern history and why none other than the Dalai Lama is officially recognising that his deeds of half a century ago continue to have an impact today.

George, now a resident of the MHS Lower Jordanhill Care Home within the Auchlochan retirement village, has received the Tibetan spiritual leader’s Light of Truth Award.

To discover why, don’t miss this week’s Carluke and Lanark Gazette which is in the shops now.
