PUPILS and staff at Coalburn Primary School celebrated their new school opening – by staging an early morning march to the building.

Children were joined by parents and members of staff as they walked up to the new school from Coalburn Leisure Centre.

Once inside, pupils took part in a special assembly and sang a range of songs, including Caledonia and The Best That I Can Be.

Class teacher Gillian Blackwood said: “The assembly was very good and parents got the chance to see the children’s new classrooms before pupils got down to work.

“All the children love their new school; it will really enhance their learning experience.”
