THE Carluke and Lanark Gazette can exclusively reveal that Patersons of Greenoakhill has been refused permission for a quarry at Overburns Farm – for the third time.

An ecstatic Clyde River Action Group (CRAG) supporter contacted the Carluke and Lanark Gazette to relay the good news.

It will be music to the ears of people living in Lamington, Coulter, Biggar and other villages in the Upperward.

The public enquiry into the Overburns saga was held in November – Scottish Government Reporter David Buylla will report his findings tomorrow (Thursday).

The CRAG supporter said: “We are over the moon. It is 3-0 to CRAG; we have knocked Patersons out for the third time.

“Hopefully, it wil be third time lucky for us and that will be an end to it.”

Two previous planning applications made by Patersons to South Lanarkshire Council were turfed out by the council’s planning committee members.
