Debut EP release for Carla Easton, Carluke
CARLUKE girl Carla Easton and her band Futuristic Retro Champions are on a roll at the moment...having just released their debut EP.
Carla formed the band in 2006 while at Edinburgh School of Art by writing and recording a song for the soundtrack of a film — portraying alienation in her home town!
"We decided to do the music ourselves and it just started from there," said Carla, who plays keyboards.
"People say pop is their guilty pleasure and we don't mind being that!"
As well as Carla, Futuristic Retro Champions comprises of Sita Pieaccini on vocals, bassist Cecilia Stamp and Harry Weeks on guitar.
During their studies the band supported Glasvegas, Friendly Fires, Kate Nash and Ladyhawke and in 2009 they were personally invited by Scottish indie-legend Eugene Kelly to support the Vaselines in London.
You can order a vinyl-esque cd or download the band's EP from http://retrochamps.bandcamp.com.
The band play Classic Grand in Glasgow on Thursday, March 25, at 7pm. Tickets are 4 in advance from the band, or 6 on the door.
