Game on...the Commonwealth Games bation relay will travel through Clydesdale

THE Commonwealth Games baton will be carried through Lanark, Carluke and Law on Sunday, June 22 as part of the Queen’s Baton Relay.

Organisers believe that the relay will give everyone the chance to be part of the excitement and countdown to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Scotland’s biggest-ever sporting and cultural event.

The identities of people picked to carry the baton – prominent folk nominated by the local community – will be revealed on March 31.

“It will be really excellent for South Lanarkshire when the baton comes through,” a Games spokesman said.

“It is something which people can really relate to. And it will be extra-exciting for spectators who see people they know carrying the baton.”
