Clydesdale supports New Beginnings
THE warm-hearted people of Clydesdale are throwing their support behind the recently-formed New Beginnings charity, aimed at providing a fresh start for local homeless individuals and families.
The new charity was launched in the wake of a local churches
conference on the subject of homelessness which heard some shocking statistics on the scale of the problem in our area.
For example, it came as an unpleasant surprise to many to learn that, last year in Clydesdale alone, 336 children were officially classed as being homeless.
This led to New Beginnings being formed to appeal for donations of household items to help give homeless people a fresh start.
South Lanarkshire Council kindly offered to accept donations at its Q & A Offices, both at the council headquarters in South Vennel, Lanark, and at the former Carluke Post Office in Kirkton Street.
And we're happy to report that, since the initial appeal was launched in the Gazette a fortnight ago, New Beginnings has received overwhelming support from around Clydesdale.
