FURIOUS parents of Carluke Primary School pupils have hit out at South Lanarkshire Council for its actions – or lack of them – during last week’s big freeze in the town.

Mums and dads said that heavy snowfall on Sunday night and during Monday had caused “chaos” as they attempted to take their children to and from Carluke Primary.

With the school car park closed as it was under nine inches of snow, traffic congestion in and around Belstane Road reputedly built up to “atrocious” levels at peak times.
