A bus carrying pupils from a German school landed in a ditch on the narrow Crossford to Nemphlar Road in Lanarkshire on Thursday morning.

And as local farmers tried in vain to tow it out, the Cartland Bridge Hotel stepped in to offer shelter to the 46 pupils and their teachers.
