Carnwath and Biggar Hogmanay Bonfires Slideshow 2012

Waiting for Video...

HOGMANAY celebrations in Biggar and Carnwath were ‘hot stuff’, as big crowds gathered for the annual bonfire lighting ceremonies.

Torchlit processions marched through both Clydesdale towns before local pensioners Peter Gibson and Alex McInally helped to light the respective bonfires.

Former butcher and abbatoir worker Peter (84), lit the Biggar bonfire outside the Corn Exchange in front of thousands of spectators and many more who watched proceedings online around the world via live webcam streaming.

The Carnwath bonfire saw a big crowd pack into Sir John Mann Park to watch the pyre being lit by Alex and Gala Queen Shannon Howat.

Freelance photographer Rodger Price took the Carnwath pictures featured in our slideshow and the Biggar event was filmed by freelancer Andrew Wilson.
