Carluke Gala Day 2009

CARLUKE was in party mode - as young and old alike came out to celebrate the 2009 Gala Day in style.

Hundreds of people took part in the procession, with more than 20 floats adding to the amazing spectacle which left Sandy Road just after 11am on Saturday.

Thankfully, the weather was kind to the gala committee members - who spent months preparing diligently for the big day.

After all their hard work, all they needed was for the sun to shine and it happily smiled down on them.

Family and friends looked on with pride as the Gala Court later assembled in Market Square for their moment in the spotlight.

Crowning Lady Margaret Kilgallon crowned 2009 Gala Queen Ailidh Prince as hundreds looked on - including Ailidh's proud parents Donna and Gordon.

Each of the children played their roles to perfection and looked picture perfect.

For full coverage of ALL the gala news, don't miss next week's Carluke Gazette which will be in the shops on Wednesday, June 17.
