Carluke driver Graeme Schoneville battles his grief over death of woman spectator at Snowman Rally

CARLUKE rally driver Graeme Schoneville was battling with his grief this week over the death of a woman spectator, struck by his car as he competed in an event on Saturday.
The tragic accident, in which an eight-year-old child was injured, happened as Graeme took part in the Highland Car Club Snowman Rally near Loch Ness.
Investigations are continuing but it is understood that 50-year-old rally fan Joy Robson from Skye died after Graeme’s car hurtled off the forest track and into a group of spectators.
Mercifully, the injured boy is recovering after receiving hospital treatment.
The event, the first round of the 2013 Scottish Championship in Glenurquhart Forest at Balnain, was abandoned out of respect for Joy.
In a statement, the Highland Car Club said: “Following an incident on special stage one of the Snowman Rally in which an adult spectator was fatally injured the event has been abandoned. The club extends its sympathies to the families of those involved.”
Neither Graeme nor his co-driver was injured in the accident.
