THE net is closing in on dog owners in Clydesdale who fail to clean up their mutt’s mess – thanks to a new poster scheme.

Soon ‘wanted’ posters will be going up all around Clydesdale, with the council inviting the public to give information to help catch the culprits.

Thank you posters will also be erected as a token of the council’s appreciation to the public.

Council leader Eddie McAvoy said: “Our message is, let’s all take responsibility for our environment and work together to improve our environment and rid ourselves of this blight.”

The council already has regular patrols across the county with all of its environmental health staff, and community wardens authorised to issue fixed penalty notices to owners.

Offenders face a fixed penalty fine of £40, increasing to £60 for late payment.
