THE ‘boy racers’ were out in such force in Lanark one night recently that one resident thought “the Le Mans 24 Hour Race was going on” outside his home.
After a lull of a few years, the scourge of young drivers – mainly males – using the Tesco car park as the base for late night impromptu races around the town has reared its head again.
In the latest incident, over the night of Saturday, April 26, residents in the surrounding area were kept awake for SEVEN hours by the noise of speeding cars going on from 1am until well past dawn.
One Lanark resident who didn’t get to sleep on the night in question just happened to be the town’s Independent South Lanarkshire councillor Ed Archer.
He took the opportunity of raising the issue with a police representative at the latest meeting of Lanark Community Council.
