Big hitch on Cailean Dunn's wedding day

AN UNLUCKY Carluke bride-to-be suffered another last minute hitch before her wedding...when she had to phone a taxi to get to the ceremony.

It was the latest in a long list of disasters which had beset Cailean Dunn's big day.

But happily she was lucky in love — and still managed to marry her fiance Gavin Cargill, albeit slightly behind schedule!

Friday's 11th hour hitch was the latest in an incredible catalogue of problems for Cailean, of Hillhead Avenue.

In the run-up to the wedding, both her dad Don and father-in-law Jim suffered heart attacks and her family lost around 5000.

So Cailean's dad Don was devastated when he took a desperate call from the car hire firm...just minutes before they were due to leave.

He said: "I was told that the clutch cable in the vintage wedding car had snapped and it would be another 45 minutes before the problem could be fixed.

"That meant it would be at least an hour before we'd be able to reach Chatelherault Country Park in Hamilton for the ceremony."

R and W Cabs owner Robert Watt came to the rescue - organising a silver Mondeo taxi to pick up Cailean and Don just 10 minutes later.

Happily, both the wedding ceremony and evening reception - at The Shawlands Park Hotel in Larkhall - were both fantastic.

Maureen added: "Cailean had a ball. She had a fabulous day.

"After what Gavin and her have put up with, I hope that their marriage will be one of the strongest in the country."

There was another happy ending too — the couple's honeymoon hotel upgraded them to a premier room after hearing of their troubles.
