LESMAHAGOW Highland Games Week officially kicked off with the crowning of the 2012 Tartan Queen Courtney Gold.

It was standing room only in the Fountain Hall as family and friends packed in to see her being crowned.

This year’s Chieftain Robert Lawson did the honours as well as sashing and crowning this year’s Tartan Princesses Laura Cook and Taylor White.

Both Queen and Princesses were accompanied by Clansmen Calum Brennan and Keiran Murray.

The crowning ceremony was accompanied by music from the Coalburn Silver Band.

The ceremony launched a week-long series of events in the village.
