POLICE are investigating after £2500 worth of lead was stolen from the roof of Carstairs Village Church, overnight between Sunday and Monday.

Thieves pinched 50m of ridge lead and other bigger pieces, 48 hours after a similar theft from the factory roof of the Ramsay’s butcher business in Carluke’s Mount Stewart Street. Hundreds of pounds worth of lead was stolen during this incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday morning.

Inspector Scott Jones of Lanark Police said victims had been “inconvenienced”. He asked witnesses to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
