LANARK was basked in glorious sunshine for this year’s Evening Spectacular the Cross - and the bands on show certainly did not disappoint.

The Newtongrange Silver Band kicked proceedings off before the Lord Cornet’s Procession, led by Lord Cornet Stephen Pillans, arrived along with the massed pipe bands.

Stephen told the large crowd that he had inspected the March stones on the boundary of Lanark and that there had been no interference with the ancient boundaries of the Royal Burgh.

At the end of the spectacular, Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire Col David Cranston took the salute as the bands marched back up the High Street into the sunset.
