AN objector to a new housing development near their home in Lanark should “go and live in Pettinain” if they want to be in a small community.

So said the chairman of the town’s Community Council Frank Gunning during a debate over the controversial planning application to build a modern, five-bedroom ‘mansion’ off Kirkfieldbank Brae.

As reported in the Gazette last week, planning permission for this was granted by South Lanarkshire Council last Tuesday.
