A fatal accident inquiry takes place at Falkirk Sheriff Court next month following the death in custody of a convicted rapist.

Ronald Adamson (54) died in Forth Valley Royal Hospital on February 4 this year. At the time he was serving nine years in Glenochil Prison after being convicted in 2009 for a number of attacks on under-age girls in Carluke.

Adamson raped a 15-year-old girl at a civic amenity site in Carluke in August 2005. His victim had been sexually abused by him since the age of 12. Another girl was assaulted between the ages of seven and 13.

All the offences Adamson was convicted of were carried out at the amenity site and a house in Carluke between 2001 and 2005.

The inquiry takes place on October 19 with a preliminary hearing on September 14.
