Games and Gala...Lesmahagow and Forth have their big days today

AFTER the excitement of galas in Carluke, Biggar and Blackwood it is the turn of Lesmahagow and Forth to take centre stage.

This morning Lesmahagow will be awash with colour as the Highland Games procession, led by this year’s Chieftain Jackie Lockhart, makes its way through the village at around 11.45am before the crowning of this year’s Tartan Queen Rhea Hood.

Rhea is joined in this year’s Highland Games Court by Princesses Charlie Wilson and Brooke Sharkey together with Clansmen Curtis Smith and Jamie Fletcher.

In the afternoon, Glebe Park will host the RSPBA pipe band competition, a series of heavy events and a dancing display.

In Forth, the fancy dress judging will be at Forth Sports Centre with all entrants to be registered for 9.30am.

The parade will start at 11.15am finishing at the White House for the crowning of this year’s Queen of the Heather Abbey Gibson.

After the crowning ceremony is complete, there is a fun filled afternoon in store.
