THE Scottish Government has stepped in to investigate why Clydesdale has been left without an out-of-hours doctor service since last summer.

The area will be among those included in a nationwide review announced in Holyrood into failings in night and weekend GP cover, mostly in Scottish rural areas.

Up until June last year, such cover was provided for the whole of Clydesdale from Lanark.
