A duo of Lanark toddlers were being hailed as little heroes this week

as they gave up their birthday presents in exchange for donations to a

fund to improve the life of local girl, ClareTurley.

Nine -year old Clare (pictured here with her family) suffers from cerebral palsy and attends the

town’s Stanmore School for kids with special needs.

Recently a fund-raising campaign was launched to raise over £20,000 to

carry out special conversions to her Lanark home to create a sensory

playroom for her.

Among her many backers have been two of her wee cousins in Lanark who

both declared they would rather any money being spent on their fourth

birthdays presents go to Clare’s Colourful Corner Fund instead. The

result was a donation of £190.

In addition to this, local teenager and neighbour Tyla Denholm spent

her 16th birthday making a sponsored skydive for wee Clare and the

result was another £735. Yet another supporter, Hazel McGregor, took

part in her first half-marathon and made £313 for the cause.
