CARLUKE woman Anita Bennie will have just one hour to prepare for a daredevil stunt strapped to the top of an aeroplane.
Anita (46), of Unitas Crescent, will be harnessed to a plane travelling 500ft above the ground in Gloucestershire on June 25.
The Tesco customer services worker is doing the terrifying challenge to raise money for Maggie’s Centre, as a tribute to her best friend Ann Graham who died of lung cancer aged 49 in 2011.
Anita, who is originally from Ripon, said: “I did a charity skydive from 10,000ft in Strathallan last year which was a great experience and raised over £1000 in Ann’s memory.
“This wing walk will be more terrifying as I won’t have an instructor with me. I’ll be on my own outside the plane, with just the pilot inside.
“What’s quite daunting is that I’ll only get an hour’s training on the day of the wing walk to prepare for it.
“But I hope that the plane is going fast while I’m doing the wing walk as I like a challenge.”
The wing walk is stage one of a fundraising programme for Anita which will also include events on Saturday, July 4: a fun day with football match at Moor Park between 11am and 4pm before a disco, raffle and auction at Castlehill Bowling Club from 7pm.
As an added bonus, Anita has arranged for actor Ashley Taylor-Dawson – who plays Darren in Hollyoaks – to play in the charity match (kick-off noon) and then appear later at the bowling club.
Married mum-of-three Anita, who has one grandchild, is currently seeking sponsorship and selling £10 tickets for the Castlehill Bowling Club night. Please contact her on 07738 688709.
