FIRE crews were forced to tackle a blaze at the former offices of the Dalquhandy opencast coal mine site in Coalburn on Saturday.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public at approximately 4pm on Saturday; it is unclear what exactly caused the blaze to begin.

Fire crews from the nearby Lesmahagow and Douglas stations answered the call with two fire-fighters going into the building with breathing apparatus going into the building in a bid to put the flames out.
