IT might be decades since it passed into history but it seems the old Douglas Water School still lives on in the hearts of its former pupils to this day.

The school was one of the casualties in the once large and bustling village following the closure of the local pits but, once a year, many of those taught there gather at the nearby Lodge Hozier hall for a reunion to recall these sometimes hard but often happy days.

The annual reunion always attracts old pals back to Douglas Water from far and wide and this year was no exception, Billy Rollitt taking the title of furthest travelled, coming all the way from British Columbia, Canada.
